Community Garden at Pitney Park

As of June 2025, we are open for gardening! (here is an example celebration)

We are accepting applications now! Please fill out the form online here (or if you prefer mail, you can print this application and mail it to the address provided at the top of the application; City of Absecon – Clerk’s Office). If you have any questions, please reach out to us on our Contact page or: abseccongreengarden at gmail dot com. Due to the late season start, we are waiving fees for 2025.

Here are the Garden Rules (please note the indemnification/hold harmless form on the last page; pdf).

Here is the ordinance spelling out a few more details for the very curious minded.

We can always use more support so please consider reaching out (contact page) – we’d love to hear from you! And if you are interested in becoming a gardener, please fill out the electronic form below (and send us an email once you do so we know to look for your application!).

Our garden is located in Pitney Park. Here are some benefits of community gardens:

  • Improved Health and Nutrition: Community gardens provide access to fresh, nutrient-rich produce. Juicy tomatoes, crisp lettuce, and fragrant herbs! Homegrown produce contributes to overall well-being.
  • Fostering a Sense of Community: The community garden can be a gathering place where stories are exchanged and bonds strengthen.
  • Enhancing the Environment: Community gardens absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen. They combat heat islands, purify the air, and provide refuge for pollinators. Each raised bed or plot is a small act of environmental stewardship, contributing to a healthier planet!
  • Creating Opportunities for Education and Skill-Building: Gardens can become classrooms. Children and adults alike can learn about photosynthesis and composting. Skills emerge: planting, weeding, pruning, and harvesting.

If you would like to make a financial contribution to our cause, please reach out to us on our Contact page. Here is our solicitation letter with some additional details. Thank you for your support! Check back often for updates.
